  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Should have brown spots for sweetness
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Can substitute with baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Adjust according to preference

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  • Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in.
  • Add the flour and mix until just incorporated.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling

  • Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Store the banana bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap it in foil and place it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
