Ingredients
  

For the apple fries

  • 2 large large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Choose firm apples for the best results.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Optional to add nutmeg or allspice for extra flavor.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg Beaten.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For extra crunch, try panko breadcrumbs.
  • as needed Cooking spray or oil For air frying.
  • as needed Caramel sauce or whipped cream For serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the apples into fry-like wedges.

Coating

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, and sugar.
  • Dip each apple slice into the flour mixture first, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

Air Frying

  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated apple slices in a single layer in the basket.
  • Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crunchy.

Serving

  • Serve warm with caramel sauce or whipped cream.

Notes

These apple fries are best enjoyed fresh out of the air fryer! If you have leftovers, place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore crunch.
